"holding on - letting go" was my very 1st album, originally released in 2007 (but without "flight of tears", which i added later that year), but as it's no longer available anywhere else, i've completely re-edited and re-mastered it for 2020 (and with older, & hopefully wiser, ears). it's rough around the edges, as at that time it was my first attempt at creating sounds using just my bass guitar, so i really was finding my way, both musically, and technically, and as such it became the progenitor for all my subsequent works. it's an album about coming to terms with bereavement, and how we hold on, in fear of letting go, even in the face of the knowing of loss, and was primarily about the death of my father - who indeed came back from the brink of death at one point, as i had already mourned his going. it made me think deeply about how i really felt at that time, to then get that (rare) chance to tell him how i felt, & he to tell me how he felt too. it was a strange time, and it took me ten years to finally come to terms with just what it *did* mean to me, & formed in part my own stance on death & dying. i hope you will enjoy this re-worked/re-vamped set. many thanks. peter james - May 31, 2020.
