sometimes I forget

arboo Enjoyable, almost nostalgic moment that smells like fresh rain, soil, hints of burned ozone after thunder. Reading the description paints a different image; spring, warm sun and forest. I crossed a wide still frozen ditch but the ice cracked and my feet got wet. Luckily I had spare socks with me. Sitting on a tree stump, changing to dry socks I see deers in the distance. This is where I belong, the birth of a new season. I stay here for a while.

about

this is my first truly ambient piece for ten years, & includes the full field recording (of snow & frost thawing off the trees in the forest as the sun came over the fell tops, & the droplets hitting the leaf strewn forest floor, & awakening the birds to sing) that i had edited & used on my 2010 album "memento".
Saskia sent me the vocals for this 9 years ago - so i thank her for her unending patience, and it was a joy to finally be able to use them, & i hope do them justice, at this time. also i think it's a piece of music for the strange times we all find ourselves in - something steady, and familiar, and, yes, peaceful.
i'm putting it up here for you to download for free, if you so wish, but if you think it has value, that's up to you to decide, i just hope it may resonate somehow. many thanks.
